A lot of families travel far weekly for treatment at St. Jude affiliate Novant Clinic (Blume Clinic) so the gas cards are a huge help and an expense they can take off their plate for the week. We purchased Walmart gift cards so folks can purchase groceries, diapers, and other needs while going through a difficult time. The social worker loves to give these out as a random act of kindness at the clinic, reinforcing that this community stands behind them and they are not alone.
You purchased Walmart gift cards and gas cards for families in need at Blume.

The patient passed away just a few days ago after a five year battle with Hodgkins’ Lymphoma. He was 17 years old. He underwent two bone marrow transplants and has been treated most recently at CMC, but has always wanted to come back to St. Jude Clinic where he felt most at home. He made his mark on the world by helping others. He most recently brought filled back packs for all of our on therapy oncology patients even though he has spent most of the past three months in the hospital himself.

The patient is a 3 year old boy who was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. He received antibody therapy in the PICU in March and after two months has not shown signs of recovery. The patient and parents are in the process of under-going HLA testing for a potential Bone Marrow Transplant. He has to come to clinic twice weekly for blood products. Both parents work and mom has had to take significant time off due to his medical needs.

The patient was a 20 year old girl who was in treatment for ALL and then was diagnosed with a rare P-coma cancer. Unfortunately, she passed away. The family support was amazing but they experienced high levels of financial stress since the patients mother was out of work for a month and they did not have enough savings to cover the cost of her funeral.
You helped to cover a large portion of her funeral.

Diagnosed at 11 years old with stage IV Burkitt's lymphoma. The patient now requires intermittent IVIG due to chemotherapy to keep the risk of infection lower. He is now a freshman (sophomore now, this request was after Give Back last year) at UNC Charlotte. He has private insurance through his parents and the co-pay for IVIG treatment is very high and not manageable for his family.
You assisted with 6 months of co-pays for the therapy.
